In 2011, students at Bethany Lutheran College in Minnesota decided to repeat the experience by analyzing who and how reacts to the strange behavior of neighbors. The researchers found that young people succumb to the tacit pressure of the crowd the most: they copied the actions of fake participants in 40% of cases. For older “victims”, this figure ranged from 14 to 24%.

Women more often tried to repeat incomprehensible actions only partially, while men were inclined to copy the behavior of their neighbors completely. And in all cases, the probability that a person would copy strange actions increased with an increase in the number of passengers.
