The picture on the used market is completely different. There are no additional costs for sellers, there is a desire to sell quickly. But most importantly, they sell what was in fashion a few years ago. This means that prices will be phenomenally low. As a result, great things can be grossly underestimated.

But there are pitfalls, of course. Let’s list them.
Run into the “wrong seller”. See the reviews, there should be at least 5, and preferably 10-20. And all the “fives”. If someone gave a low grade, read for what. If it’s for being sold to another, it doesn’t matter. The term of the seller’s account is also important — at least a year, several years — even better.
It is interesting to read the reviews themselves. It is already possible to understand from them what kind of person he is. And you can also draw a certain portrait based on the goods that he sells. For example, if it’s just computer “stuff”, then this is a good option in this case. A person understands the topic, as he often changes the hardware, will be able to explain what’s what. That is, we need not only a reliable seller, but also a specialist in this topic.
By the way, according to personal, perhaps subjective observation, women are more careful about their technique. But the user level is often not very high. And there are few IT specialists among them. There will be problems with consultations. See what is more important to you.
I do not recommend contacting companies. Pay more, and they may simply not know about the pitfalls of the product.
Chasing after outright junk. We all want to save money. But you can rarely buy a good thing quite cheaply (there are, of course, exceptions). Therefore, if the price is low, immediately look for the reason, ask questions. And think about whether this will suit you.
For example, if you need at least some kind of temporary laptop, probably the appearance is not so important. But for a long time I would like to be in good external condition. We don’t need internal problems either. In short, we are looking for an “excellent” or “good” condition. “Working” implies that there are some problems, but they may not be specified.
Check with the buyer if there are any problems and if there are any external defects. You can also request photos. Often after such interrogations it becomes clear that the product is not very good. But at least you will have a starting point to choose a laptop to your liking.
Overpay. Yes, there are some buyers who put the price 20-50% above the market, hoping that someone will buy their product. If you are in a hurry, of course, you can overpay a little. But in general, we just skip such offers.
Buying is not what you need. Simplified — overpay for unnecessary functions. Or just buy the wrong thing. Write down the required characteristics and look for exactly those.
For example, when I bought my Lenovo X220i, there was a more expensive option — in an aluminum case and with a more powerful processor. And only for some 6,000 rubles. (prices on the secondary market, of course, are pleasing). But why do I need this, I thought?
Useful tip: do not hesitate to ask questions about everything — about problems, wear, possible discounts, functions. A normal seller will answer most of your questions or honestly admit that he does not know something. If the conversation fails, is it necessary to deal with such a person? By the way, if the seller is reliable, then you can trust his words, 80% for sure.
